Our quaint cottage (c.1885, restored 1999) sits on a gentle slope to the tidal beaches of the Annapolis Basin. 5 acres of private property ensures your solitude. Soft and hardwood trees encourages many species of birds. Surfing the tides are countless more, a Paradise for the avid birder, artist and writer. Beach combing, rock hunting and clam digging (when in season) are relaxing and exciting endeavors.

All this can be found a short step from the cottage, a walk through the woods! There is a unique arbor wrapped with masses of climbing roses, clematis and other vines just outside the cottage door. It invites quiet contemplation, a soothing balm to life's challenges. A place to renew ones energies. Our gardens are an on going progress of love.

This lovely home is simply elegant, it's character not lost when restored in 1999.

This retreat is certainly a place for lover's as well as families, a true hide-a-way from everyone, tucked away, hidden from the busy world, only minutes from Annapolis Royal and Digby. We are centrally located for day trips to Halifax, Lunenburg, Peggy's Cove, Yarmouth and other wonderful places.

Astronomer's, professional and amateur alike, would find our night skies pristine and totally breath taking, free from light pollution. The constellations seem close enough to reach out and touch. Satellites, the space station, and countless meteorites and other unique sightings hold you fast to the heavens. It's certainly the right place to be with Eta Aquarid shower in May, the South Delta Acquarid meteor shower near the end of July, and of course the famous Perseid in August. In October and November, Orionid and Leonid are not to be out done. So much to experience. We are proud to say, Old Country Rose Retreat, is a special home, as all those who have stayed here would attest to. We are not a lavish hotel or B&B, but a home away from home, a cozy, warm and comfortable stop on your travels.
